The pride of hateem

Hijr or hateem is the same thing. The structure of Kaba was ready but due to the shortage of some of the materials accumulated for construction a part of space had been left out of the structure and a new foundation was laid in one side making the Kaba somewhat smaller. The space the Quraish had left out of the Kaba structure is now called hateem. (Seerat e Mustafa, Page 98).
Hateem is a part of the Holy Kaba hence entering hateem is as good as entering into the Kaba structure. (Rafeeque al-harmain, Page 37).
عَنْ عَائِشَةَرَضِي َاللَّهُ عَنْهَاقَالَت ْسَأَلْت ُالنَّبِي َّصَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْه ِوَسَلَّمَ عَنْ الْجَدْرِ أَمِنَ الْبَيْت ِهُوَ قَالَ نَعَمْ قُلْت ُفَمَالَهُمْ لَمْ يُدْخِلُوهُ فِي الْبَيْت ِقَالَ إِنّ َقَوْمَكِ قَصَّرَتْ بِهِمْ النَّفَقَةُ قُلْتُ فَمَاشَأْنُ بَابِهِ مُرْتَفِعًا قَالَ فَعَلَ ذَلِكَ قَوْمُكِ لِيُدْخِلُوا مَنْ شَاءُوا وَيَمْنَعُوا مَن ْشَاءُوا وَلَوْلَا أَنَّ قَوْمَكِ حَدِيثٌ عَهْدُهُمْ بِالْجَاهِلِيَّةِ فَأَخَافُ أَنْتُنْكِرَ قُلُوبُهُمْ أَنْ أُدْخِلَ الْجَدْرَ فِي الْبَيْتِ وَأَنْ أُلْصِقَ بَابَهُ بِالْأَرْضِ That is to say that Ummul Mo’mineen Hadrat Ayesha Siddiqua radhiAllahuta’la anha states that I have asked the holy prophet sallallaahu alaihi wasallam about the wall of hateem, whether it was a part of the house of Allah?  The beloved prophet sallallaahu alaihi wasallam said: “Your tribe ran out of money”, I asked: “Then why the door is elevated to this height? The prophet sallallaahu alaihi wasallam said:  “Your tribe had done this to allow inside the Ka’bah whom they will and prevent those whom they will, had your tribe not been forgone new new idolatery practices and had I not been afraid of your tribe’s bad feeling, I would have entered the walls of Hateem inside the House of Allah, making the door on the floor. (Sahih Bukhari, Hadith 1584).

The grave of Hadrat Syedna Ismail alaihis salaam is in the holy Haram mosque near the Hateem. (Fatawa Radhviya, Volume 5, Page 351)  Hence, it is also called Hujre-Ismail.  Moreover, between the Hateem, the Black Stone and Zam Zam, graves of 70 prophets are there. (Fatawa Radhviya, Volume 7, Page 304)

Allama Ibn Arabi Rahmatullah alaih has written: Imam Mahdi would pay his holy visit in the Hateem of Ka’bah during the evening time.” (Malfuzath A’la Hadrat, Page 163).

Hadras Syedna Allama Shuaib harifessh Rahmatullah alaih says: “For the sake of the beloved prophet sallallaahu alaihi wasallam Allah the Glorious has bestowed the water Zam Zam and Hateem  with the honor.  (Hikaayaten and Nasihaten, Page 608)
