Place of Ibrahim alaihi salam

In front of the door of Ka’bah there is a small dome having placed inside a heavenly stone which was used by Hadrat Syedna Ibrahim Khaleelullah alaih as-salaathu wasslaam to stand on the same while constructing the structure of Ka’bah.  It is a live miracle of Hadrat Syedna Ibrahim Khaleelullah alaih as-salaathu wassalaam that even today, the signs of his holy feet are seen engraved on the holy stone from Paradise. (Rafeequl Harmain, Page 38)

This is the same stone which was used by Hadrat Ibrahim alaih as-salaam to construct Ka’bah walls when they were raised beyond the height above his head.  It was his miracle that made this hard stone like soft wax, due to which the imprints of his footsteps were engraved deeply on this stone.  Due to these engraved signs of his holy feet, the honor of this stone was elevated to have such a place that Allah’s Majesty and His Holiness has mentioned twice about the honor of this stone in Al-Qur’an.  In one place it has been mentioned:  فِیْہِ اٰیٰتٌ بَیِّنٰتٌ مَّقَامُ اِبْرٰھِیْمَ

That is to say :“In it are manifest signs (for example), the Maqam (place) of Ibrahim….;” (4:97) and in another place, disclosing the honor of this stone, it has been declared saying:

وَاتَّخِذُوا مِنْ مَقَامِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ مُصَلًّى“…And take you (people) the Maqam (place) of Ibrahim [or the stone on which Ibrahim stood while he was building the Ka'bah as a place of prayer…”(Al-Qur’an 2:125)

Thousands of rains and storms came and gone, several times water flooded from the mountains down to this place, this holy stone was submerged several times, millions of people have touched this stone, but in spite of all these, the inscription of the holy feet of Hadrat Ibrahim Khaaleelullah laihis salaam are still found on this stone. No doubt this is a big and wonderful miracle of Hadrat Ibrahim alaih as-salaam. Surely this is a glaring sign amongst the other signs of Allah subhanahuta’la and an inspiration for every Muslim who has been commanded to pray two rakahs near this stone, after every Tawaf of the Holy Ka’bah.  Pray for Me, prostrate for Me but it is better you keep your foreheads on the floor near to this stone on which the inscriptions of the feet of My Khaleel the beloved and majestic Hadrat Ibrahim alaih salaam are engraved.

Hadrat syedna Abdullah Bin Umar radhiAllahuta’la anhuma narrates saying that I have heard the holy prophet sallallaahu alaihi wasallam leaning on the holy House of Allah saying: “Hajr Aswad (black stone) and Maqam Ibrahim (place of Ibrahim)  have been the two yaqooths (Ruby) among the Yaqooths of the paradise.  If Allah the Glorious had not suppressed the radiance and light from these two stones, these would have made radiant everything in between the east and west(Jamia’ Al-Tirmizi, Hadith 879)

In one holy hadith it has been said: “No doubt the Hajr Aswad and Maqam Ibrahim alaihis salaam have been from the yaqooths (Rubies) of the paradise.  Had these stones not absorb the sins of the people, they would have brightened everything from east to west and if a sick person or a person with troubles touches these stones, they would be relieved of their perils. (Shuab Al-Eimaan, Hadith 4031)
