عن عباس بن مرداس السلمي أن أباه أخبره عن أبيه أن النبي صلى الله عليه و سلم دعا لأمته عشية عرفة بالمغفرة . فأجيب إني قد غفرت لهم ماخلا الظالم . فإني آخذ للمظلوم منه: قال ( أي رب إن شئت أعطيت المظلوم من الجنة . وغفرت للظالم ) فلم يجب عشيته فلما أصبح بالمزدلفة أعاد الدعاء . فأجيب إلى ما سأل . قال فضحك رسول الله صلى الله عليه و سلم أو قال تبسم . فقال له أبو بكر وعمر بأبي أنت وأمي إن هذه لساعة ماكنت تضحك فيها . فما الذي أضحكك ؟ أضحك الله سنك: قال ( إن عدو الله إبليس لما علم أن الله عز و جل قد استجاب دعائي وغفر لأمتي أخذ التراب فجعل يحثوه على رأسه ويدعو بالويل والثبور ) فأضحكني مارأيت من جزعه .(صحیح ابن ماجہ،رقم الحدیث:3013)

Hadith:    It has been narrated by Abbas bin mardas that Rasoolullaah sallallaahu alaihi wasallam in the eve of Arafah supplicated for the maghfirah (forgiveness) of his sallallaahu alaihi wasallam’s ummah. He got a reply that except huqooq ul-ibaad all the other remaining sins are forgiven.  Therefore, the rights of the victim, the oppressed one would be weighed.The Prophet sallallaahu alaihi wasallam said in the court of his majesty, the Glorious!, Saying “Oh Allah,  Lord of the Universe, if you like offering Jannah to the oppressed and forgiving the oppressor, the tyrant (that is to say that on offering  Jannah  to the oppressed, make the oppressed to get pleased with the tyrant and pardon his tyranny, thus giving up his rights over the tyrant.) Then  there was no reply on the eve of Arafah.  But the Prophet sallallaahu alaihi wasallam spend the night at Muzdalafah and in the early morning he supplicated the same thing.  Then his sallallaahu alaihi wasallam’s supplications were granted.  Narrators inform that :  Then the Prophet sallallaahu alaihi wasallam smiled.  hadrath Abu bakr and hadrat umer radiAllahuta’la anhu who were  present in the court of   the Prophet sallallaahu alaihi wasallam for his sallallaahu alaihi waslaam’s  service  said: “May our parents be sacrificed  on you! This time you  sallallaahu alaihi wasallam never smile.  May Allah keep our Prophet Sallallaahu alaihi waslaam happy and pleased, which matter is compelling you to smile, at last?  He sallallaahu alaihi wasallam replied: when the enemy of Allah the iblees saw Allah accepting my supplications and pardoning my ummah, he took the mud and started pouring on his head and cried shouting  hai, wai.  I smiled on  noticing his nervousness.  (saheh ibn e majah)

Note:   Allah has given the option of the rights on others (huqooqul ibaad) to his slaves.  unless he pardons, the rights would not be forgiven.   Here due to the blessings of stay (in muzdalafah) on the day of qiyamah Allah would intermediate  between you and the people who hold the rights. He will make them pleased with you.Subhanallah! The Glorious! how fortunate is a Haji!

And Behold !  Here is the Holy Muzdalafah! everywhere the briskness and the beauty blooms.  remember that you have to perform at the time of  isha, both the prayers of Magrib and isha combined together.  (Bahar-e-shariyat, volume 1 , Part 6, Paes 1132, 1133)
